Mosaics Courses - LEVEL 1, 2 and 3

I run 3 one-day courses which together cover most of the techniques you'll need to create your own mosaic.

DAY 1 PROJECTS - picture frame, lightcatcher, terracotta saucer, heatmat

LEVEL 1 - The Basics

We’ll be working on a flat, regular-shaped object and a design using  straight-edged mosaic tiles.

We’ll be focusing on:-

  • How to create a simple design
  • Use of colour
  • Laying the tiles (2 basic techniques)
  • Basic cutting of tiles – for straight-edged shapes
  • Direct method of gluing the tiles
  • Grouting
  • Cleaning your piece
DAY 2 PROJECTS - flower pot, picture, mosaic boulder and tile

LEVEL 2 - Basics continued

We’ll be working on a simple 3D object and learning how to 'draw' with mosaic tiles.

We’ll also be focusing on:-

  • Further use of colour
  • Laying the tiles (4 techniques)
  • Cutting the tiles – for shaped and curved patterns
  • Direct method of gluing – onto 3D objects
  • How to colour the grout

LEVEL 3

Will help you develop the techniques you’ve learnt on the previous two courses. You have a choice of:-

  • The same projects as Level 2, but with more detailed design options

OR.......

  • I have a box of large & interesting objects ideal for a mosaic project, with a difference!

OR

  • You can bring a project from home.                                               I can prepare your design so it is suitable for your mosaic home project, and be ready for you to immediately start  – but there is an extra charge of £15/person. (Otherwise you'll need to have your design prepared beforehand, as I cannot guarantee you’ll finish in a day.)
